HCG Quality Is Suspect As Market is Flooded with Overseas Supplies

May 26, 2009 · 2 Comments

With the popularity of the HCG Diet on the rise (and for good reason – it works!), the  market is becoming flooded with new and sundry suppliers offering HCG to weight loss clinics at cheap prices.  They can sell it so cheap because the HCG isn’t made in the USA (it comes from places like China, India, Singapore, etc.) and is sold through foreign online pharmacy websites, some of which are in Canada, or direct to weight loss clinics via solicitation by phone or email.

Almost every weight loss clinic in the USA offering the hCG Protocol has been inundated with calls and emails from these vendors offering cheap HCG, and the price is so alluring (allowing the clinic to profit more per patient if they can save on the cost of the hCG) that many, many clinics are turning to these alternative sources of HCG unaware that the new suppliers are offering an inferior product.

This faulty hCG is passed on to the patient as genuine, quality hCG when in fact it is either sub-standard or worthless.

The problem with this cheap HCG is it is usually BAD (read: ineffective), either because it is synthetic, not from humans, contaminated or tainted, expired, made from hCG extracted from the placenta instead of the urine, or sometimes it is not even HCG at all.

One can test one’s supply of HCG for efficacy by squirting some of the solution onto a home pregnancy test – if the test comes back positive, then the HCG is probably good.  Otherwise, your hCG is bad (it may have been good at one point but now ineffective because it wasn’t stored properly after being mixed, or was old and near expiration when received).

What does ‘probably good’ mean?

Independent 3rd party tests have confirmed that EVERY SINGLE SOURCE of HCG from overseas is missing a key molecule that US-manufactured HCG has.  This means even in the best case scenario of getting genuine HCG from an overseas supplier doesn’t mean it is going to be as effective as US-made HCG.

Why should foreign sources of HCG be missing a key molecule that US-made HCG has?  Because HCG is very difficult to make (it comes from the urine of pregnant women), many other ways of acquiring HCG have been used, including taking the hCG directly from the placenta (and in some cases, from animals).

Most, if not all, overseas suppliers are getting the real, natural hCG from the placenta instead of the urine, and this may account for the difference between US and foreign manufacturers of the hCG powder.  There are only 2 manufacturers in the USA that make real HCG, and both only use HCG extracted from the urine (never from the placenta).

The only way to know if the hCG you are getting, whether by ordering online or from a clinic or doctor that is administering the HCG Diet to you, is to ask if the pharmacy or clinic is TrimYou Certified.  TrimYou certifies the pharmacy is selling only US-made, real hCG and the clinic is only ordering from a TrimYou certified pharmacy.

Every other source of HCG is suspect.

Fat Loss on HCG – Differences Between Men and Women

May 15, 2009 · 1 Comment

Why is it that men lose more weight and fat loss is achieved quicker than women on the HCG Diet?

Depending on physical activity, a person needs 10 calories per pound of body weight to maintain their weight (more active people need 15 calories per pound because the exercise they do burns extra calories).  But this also depends on how much ‘active tissue’ a person’s body has.  Muscle is ‘active tissue’ that burns calories, so a male that normally has a higher percentage of muscle will have more of this active tissue, and more calories are needed daily to maintain his weight.

So, if a man weighs 200 pounds, he needs 2000-3000 calories to maintain that weight (depending on percentage of muscle mass and activity level).  Going on the Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) of Dr. Simeons’ HCG Protocol, that means 1500-2500 calories are missing and the body taps into the abnormal fat stores to release those calories needed by his 200 pound body.

At 3500 calories per pound, it will only take 1+ days to burn a pound of fat (typically, 1-2 pounds of fat loss per day occurs on HCG, so something else is going on when taking HCG.  Perhaps HCG triggers fat to burn at a faster rate or increases the metabolism beyond the typical 10-15 calories per pound of weight?  More investigation into this is needed…)

A ‘normal’ body fat percentage for a male is 15%, and for a woman is 20% (men typically have a higher percentage of muscle than women, hence a lower body fat percentage).  That isn’t to say a body builder or fitness model doesn’t have much lower body fat numbers, but they are VERY HARD to sustain.  A body builder may get down to 5% or less body fat when ‘in season’ but out of season his body fat numbers go way up.

So a typical 200 pound person with 20% body fat has 40 pounds of fat (abnormal fat, normal fat, and structural fat combined), but a typical 200 pound person wouldn’t be doing the HCG Diet, right?

Obesity is defined as having a body fat percentage greater than 20%, so someone doing the HCG Diet would be more likely to have 35-50% body fat (dangerously obese) and that same 200 pounds would be 70-100 pounds of fat.

In any case, a male has more muscle generally than a female as a percentage of body weight, and ALSO usually weighs more and requires more calories per day to sustain that weight. Therefore, the fat is going to come off faster in most cases.  Of course there are always exceptions.
